Fairtrade expert Liz Roodhouse visited school, involving all the Junior children in workshops and activities throughout the morning. By the end of the morning, there was a definite buzz of excitement about Fairtrade, and the things we can do to make the world that little bit better for others. Working with our Fairtrade committee (of children, staff, governors and parents) at lunchtime, Liz gave us lots of inspiring ideas on how to develop Fairtrade further in our school. The children will be busy writing letters, organising events, making things and planning ahead for Fairtrade fortnight - as well as spreading the word about Fairtrade - in preparation for an action-packed whole-school Fairtrade Day on March 4th.

Everyone had a fantastic musical day on Friday. Y5/6 performed at a Ukulele concert in Boroughbridge High School, whilst the rest of the school enjoyed African Drumming Workshops with Alison from Drums Agogo in Harrogate. Have a look at the Gallery section to see photos and videos of the children's music making.

As well as playing with snow to explore its wonderful properties and characteristics, our Nursery children have been colouring and painting on the snowy ground. Reception and Year 1 have tried out writing on snow - and even practising their spellings in the snow!
Children of all ages have had a great time playing in the snow during breaktime and lunchtime too. Through brilliant teamwork, they have created a whole range of snowmen and other creatures - even a tiny snow mouse with an icicle tail crawling up a tree trunk!
In Collective Worship, we thought about why we love to make snowmen and how we always seem to try and make them as lifelike as we can. In other words, we try to make them 'in our image'. We compared this to the Bible verse that says 'God made us in His image', and thought about how, although we are all unique (like our snowmen) we all have the image of God in us, through the likes of the love, care, kindness, joy and peace that we can all share.

We have had a lovely start to our new school term. All the children have arrived back at school eagerly and happily, all smiles, ready to work hard and get stuck into their new terms’ themes for learning.
We have much to look forward to in the coming weeks, and our website is one way we will keep you all informed about the things we are doing.
Here's to a peaceful, happy and successful New Year!
