HAMPSTHWAITE CURRICULUM INTENT

Education at Hampsthwaite is based on the National Curriculum. Learning is sequenced in a way that ensures progression and the development of key knowledge and skills – embedding these within the children’s long term memory. We strive to ensure that our children’s creativity, interests and talents are nurtured so that they will be able to ‘Enjoy, Achieve and Flourish’ during their time with us.

HAMPSTHWAITE PRIMARY SCHOOL - RELIGIOUS EDUCATION INTENT

Religious Education at Hampsthwaite ensures that every child has the ability to explore their own faith and to respect other world religions within a supportive and non-judgmental Christian environment. We encourage children to develop their own sense of belief, we support their enquiring minds to learn make connections between religions and the impact that they have upon themselves. Children are encouraged to ask questions about the ‘big things’ in their own lives and those of others. They reflect on how this impacts on them as a person, accepting differences and similarities, helping them to grow as an individual but also a member of our school and world community. Children develop their wisdom through a range of creative teaching styles and real life experiences, the children’s interests are at the heart of all that we do.

Sanctuary Week 'Love'

Sanctuary Week - Finding Freedom

Sanctuary Week Quotes from the children - Finding Freedom

"In the Sanctuary Space I found it a very soothing / sentimental environment because it almost seemed to slow down time and make me feel extremely centred and calm. I liked the candle most because it finally gave me a chance to share my dad's favourite quote. Overall, I wish we could do more sanctuary"

"I really enjoyed going into the hall and celebrating Sanctuary Week. I usually don't enjoy reflection things as they are usually based on God and I don't strongly believe in him/her/them etc. But Sanctuary Week was different it was mainly focused on emotions (joy, sadness, worry, disgust and anger) plus our views of the world. I enjoyed many activities but my favourite was either the keys or big questions. I also liked viewing other people's thoughts . Taking part in Sanctuary Week made me realise that there is so much more in the world that we don't know about!"
