Times of School Day

Key Stage 2 Lunch 12.15pm – 1.15pm

School ends 3.30pm for all year groups

Total time for a typical week: 32 hours and 55 minutes

'Drop off' and 'Pick Up'

For the children’s safety and well being we ask that parents let us know of alterations to normal collection arrangements, preferably in writing. We appreciate that emergencies can arise and we hope to be supportive in such cases. We ask that you avoid parking on the yellow zig-zag lines outside the school entrance. We realise that finding space to park is sometimes difficult, but urge you to remember that the zig-zag lines are there to protect the children. If you park in these areas you are actually making it very difficult and potentially dangerous for children walking to and from school.

The Start of the Day

School gates open at 8.00am for our Early Birds Club and classroom doors open at 8.45/50am. If arriving after 8.55am, children should be taken to the main school entrance and signed in before joining their class. If for any reason you child is going to be absent from school, you must contact the school office no later than 9.15am or we will need to phone you; this is so we can ensure that both you, and your child, are safe.

If for any reason you need to collect your children before the end of the school day, please inform your child’s teacher and collect your child from the main entrance where you will be required to sign your child out.

Morning Playtime

Children are able to bring a piece of fruit or a vegetable to eat at morning playtime and we can offer milk as part of the 'Cool Milk' Scheme. If you are interested in this, you will need to speak to a member of staff in the main office. Children are also encouraged to bring named bottles of water to school each day; this supports our Health Education Policy.

The End of the Day

The school day ends at 3.30pm. If a parent does not arrive to collect their child, the school will make every effort to contact them. Children will be asked to wait in the school hall to be collected, where they may be charged for using our after school club. Please try to contact the school if you know you are going to be late.

School – closures

Sometimes it is necessary for the school to close because of bad weather, loss of utility services (such as electric, gas or water) or other emergencies.

The staff work hard to keep open wherever possible but if circumstances mean that we have to make a decision to close the school or send children home early, there are various ways we contact parents.

Our first option is to use the School Text Service – Please ensure the office have your current mobile number

We will also use Local radio stations to communicate between schools and parents. Once the decision to close school has been made we will inform the local radio stations covering our area and ask them to broadcast a message to parents.

The local radio station used to broadcast school closure is:

North Yorkshire County Council will also endeavour to have a list of closures displayed by 9.00 am on the day concerned at the following page –
