Hampsthwaite Primary School - Forest School
What is Forest School?
Forest School's holistic approach encourages children to learn in a natural environment which is not only inspiring but also very calming. It will nurture their self esteem whilst also teaching resilience and risk taking. It enhances the children’s communication skills and ability to work as a team. Forest school will equip children with a love and respect for the outdoors. Through attending our fortnightly sessions at Forest school, the children in Reception will have their self confidence and resilience is boosted, therefore creating happy, healthy motivated learners.
In this technology dominated age children are sadly losing touch with nature and it is a harrowing fact that children are now spending less time outside being active in nature. A Forest school therefore helps reconnect the children with nature and be more active both in body and mind.
We believe that our Forest School provides an added 'action-packed' spice to the curriculum we offer at school. It provides real life opportunities and creates independent learners.
TEAM GRIFFIN - Autumn Forest School
What a fabulous first session!
Team Griffin were busy in three groups:
DEN BUILDING - what fantastic dens they built with tarpaulin, bungies, clips and branches.
FIRE PIT - Madeleine was amazed at the sensible behaviour and achievements of generating fire.
TOOL STATION - Mr Carry monitored the use of hammers, etc to aid the creation of wooden decorations for the dens.
A big THANK YOU to one of our new parents, who kindly helped out.
