PIANO FOR ALL
We have an accessible piano to allow pupils to practise and explore during playtimes.
A sand-timer gives each person three minutes to play.
So far, the children are loving the freedom!
SUMMER MUSIC CONCERT
What a great day!
Monday 17th June was a musical day at Hampsthwaite.
With so many performers from Y1-Y6, we had a rehearsal/performance for the whole school in the morning and then a full house of parents and friends of our school for the afternoon performance.
The Highlights:
Vocals:
Jessica was outstanding with her solo of 'Six' - as a Y3 now, we are sure to hear her again in the future. What a fantastic performance!
Felicity stood out for many children, who had the chance to say who they would give the golden buzzer to! What a voice! Sounding so professional, she performed 'Firework' with such gusto!
Sophia, our other Rock Band Vocalist, was equally amazing!
Guitarists:
Well done to Henry (Y3), who after only a few weeks of lessons, performed
Ukulele Players:
Another opportunity to share 'Rockin' All Over The World' - well done Team Griffin.
Pianists:
So many talented and dedicated pianists, who performed with confidence and skill. Well done to all of you.
Dancers:
Well done to Willow and Felicity, who choreographed and performed brilliantly to 'The Greatest Show'.
Musical Theatre:
Well done to Bugsy Business - your last performance of 'Fat Sam's Grand Slam' and 'Tallulah'. Two amazing performances!
The Rock Band were just brilliant!
Thank you to Mike Rudland-Simpson, who leads the band after school on a Friday.
Congratulations to all its members: Reuben, Adam, Oliver, Michael, Maggie, Felicity and Sophia. You all rock!
Thank you to the parents for their kind donations - they will help to buy some more instruments for the music room.

Visit to Ripon Museums May 2023 - Team Phoenix
Team Phoenix (Years 4 and 5) are learning about the Victorians with a focus on children's lives in Victorian times.
At the museums, we took part in Victorian school lessons, separated into girls' and boys' groups. In the Workhouse, we had to do the jobs Victorian children were expected to do such as bird scaring, gardening and washing clothes. We also enjoyed the role play activities: re-enacting the trial of a child for stealing bread and judging poor people's requests to join the Workhouse.
